About the team

The Harirod river starts in the centre of Afghanistan from the winter precipitation of the western Hindukush mountain range and flow all the way to the Iranian border, becoming the border between Iran and Afghanistan, and further north-west, the border between Iran and Turkmenistan, before it runs dry into Turkmenistan deserts.

The Harirod spans over 1,100 km from Afghanistan to Turkmenistan and is hugely important to the agriculture of all of the provinces it crosses on its way to  Turkmenistan.

‘Toofan’ means typhoon or storm. The Toofan Harirod football team expects to cause a real storm by its strong presence and skillful team play. Already it boasts one of the strongest teams based on pre-selection and hopes to compete strongly against the other teams of the Roshan Afghan Premier League, and to bring the Cup to the West.
