About the team

Toofan Harirod players are the representatives of the western zone. The team was the first champions of Afghan Premier League (APL) in 2012.

Harirod River, with over 1,100 kilometers length, originates and is fed by winter precipitation in the western Hindukosh mountain range. The river flows all the way to the Iranian border where it becomes the dividing line between Iran and Afghanistan, as well as Iran and Turkmenistan further northwest.

Toofan Harirod kicked off 2016 APL with the hope of victory. The team took advantage of exercising on the newly artificial turf of football in western Herat province. Additionally, to boost the confidence and chance of winning the cup, Toofan has recruited Mustafa Afshar, Anwar Akbari, and Fardin Hakimi who are well-known players of the national team. This year, Toofan was in Group “A”. Unluckily, the team did not advance to semi-finals despite having two wins in the group stage.

The fifth season’s APL FIFA Fair-Play award was presented to Toofan Harirod.
