Abasin means the father of rivers, and is the Pashto name of the famous river which runs through South East Asia - the Indus River. Many of the smaller rivers in Afghanistan feed through to the Abasin and the lands to the east of the Abasin were predominantly Pashtoons for a large part of the river.
‘Sape’ means waves, and the Abasin Sape football team represents the eastern provinces of Ghazni, Paktiya, Paktika, Gardez, Khost, Logar and Wardak.
The Abasin Sape are expected to be competitive this year with some great players selected to participate in the Roshan Afghan Premier League in 2012.
