Coming into the tournament, Shaheen was favored to win it all. So far, they have not disappointed their fans. Shaheen made quick work of De Maiwand Atalan in the semifinal round, winning both legs with ease. They will face a tougher challenge in the final, going up against the northerners.

After an abysmal performance in last year's main event, the football world did not expect much from Simorgh Alborz in this tournament. The odds were against them as the drew a semifinal match up against the home town heroes De Spinghar Bazan. Simorgh was up to the challenge however, as they won both legs of the semifinal round and earned a chance to play for the Nawroz Cup.
