The first leg of the matchup between De Maiwand Atalan and Shaheen Asmayee went to the team representing Kabul. Defending champions Shaheen Asmayee won the opening match of the 2015 RAPL Nawroz Tournament 2-0.
The game was a back and forth defensive struggle until early in the second half when De Maiwand Atalan shot themselves in the foot by scoring an own goal. The match looked like it would end on that mistake until Azrat Niazi of Shaheen Asmayee shot the ball on a rope from well outside the box that got passed the outstretched arms of De Maiwand Atalan's goalkeeper Amanullah Toofan to make the final score 2-0 in favor of Shaheen.
Either Shaheen or Maiwand will go on to play the winner of the other semifinal matchup between Simorgh Alborz and De Spinghar Bazan. The first leg will take place tomorrow March 16th at 3PM.
