In Mansur Faqiryar, Afghanistan had a perfectly capable goalkeeper in between their sticks when they played the 2011 SAFF Suzuki Cup. But it was two years later in 2013 that Faqiryar came into the limelight with some brilliant goalkeeping displays that earned him the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament award.

The goalkeeper was in stellar form in the final as India’s attempts to claw their way back into the game after going two goals down were all parried away by the Afghan keeper. Faqiryar’s hands stood strong right till the end and Afghanistan lifted the SAFF trophy. It was a supreme goalkeeping performance from the man in between the sticks.

Unfortunately, Faqiryar won't be playing in the 2015 SAFF games due to a leg injury.
