"Younger and Stronger" Amu Face Bazan

2 Sep, 2015

Another day of RAPL action is underway as Mawjhai Amu clash with De Spinghar Bazan at the AFF Stadium today at 4:00 PM.

This will be the second time that the two teams have a face-off over the past three RAPL seasons. They faced each other at the group stage in 2013 with Bazan defeating Amu 2-1.

Amu has never been able to pass the group stage in any of the last three RAPL  seasons. However, they have managed to defeat both Shaheen Asmayee and Simorgh Alborz, considered the main title contenders for this season during friendly matches prior to the start of season 4. "We have a younger and stronger Amu this season. We have eight new players in our squad and the team is in best form to compete." Tahir Munawari, Amu's Assistant Coach said.

Bazan secured third position in the last year's competition defeating De Maiwand Atalan 5-4. They couldn't advance to Semi Finals in 2013 with an uninspired performance. Similarly,  they experienced bad luck facing Toofan Harirod in the Semi Finals of 2012, they got defeated 10-0.

Bazan appears in shape again this year as they have recruited players from Farah province for the first time and also two players from Shaheen: Ghulam Hazrat Niazi and Zekrya Azizi. "We have welcomed players from Farah province and former Shaheen players and that have strengthened our chance of advancing in this year's competition." Shahidullah Wafa, Bazan's Manager said.

All of the group stage matches will start at 4:00 pm this season. The matches will broadcast live on TOLO TV, Lemar TV, Arman FM and Arakozai FM.  It will also be watchable on the RAPL YouTube page (www.youtube.com/afghanpremierleague).
