About the team

Shaheen Asmayee represents  Kabul, the most heavily populated province of Afghanistan with over five million inhabitants.   

The Asmayee mountains dominate the skyline of Kabul city, and divide the city into two halves, with a valley in the middle allowing the passage of the Kabul River. Kabul city boosts a rich history of over 2,000 years.

“Shaheen” means falcon, which have been used historically for hunting throughout Afghanistan.The falcon is a symbol of grace and elegance but also speed and agility,  it can reach speeds of over 300km per hour diving to capture its prey.  For the third consecutive year, Shaheen, the two time RAPL defending champions blazed their way to the 2015 RAPL championship round, beating Mawjhai Amu 3-2 in the semifinals. 

They finished the extra time in the final in a scoreless stalemate with De Spinghar Bazan, and eventually lost 4-3 in penalty shootout. 

Shaheen had to let go of the cup for the first time, in the last two years.
