The two favorites in this year's main event will go head to head in the opening match at the AFF Stadium today, August 27th, at 4:00 PM. The match will begin following the festivities of the opening ceremony which will start at 3:00 PM.

Shaheen Asmayee is the two times defending RAPL champions in 2013 and again last year. Simorgh Alborz is the winner of the inaugural Nawroz Tournament Cup in this year.

This is the first time that both teams are in the same Group and will face each other in the group play.

 Shaheen played Simorgh only once in the main event and it was in the final of 2013. Shaheen took a comfortable 3-1 lead with two goals by Hashmatalluh Barakzai and one penalty shot by Mahmood Azad. The only goal of Simorgh was scored by Omid Khatib zada. Simorgh had a strong comeback in the Nawroz Tournament and defeated Shaheen in the final in a thrilling penalty shootout.

Both teams have large followings and are favorites to win the prestigious 2015 RAPL trophy.

All of the group stage matches will start at 4:00 pm this season. The matches will broadcast live on TOLO TV,Lemar TV ,Arman FM ,and Arakozai FM.  It will also be watchable on the RAPL YouTube page (www.youtube.com/afghanpremierleague
