On October 16, 2014 representatives from the 2014 Roshan Afghan Premier League and the Afghanistan Football Federation were invited to Afghanistan's Parliament to be recognized for a great 2014 season.
The ceremony was organized by the Sports Committee of Parliament and was covered live by National TV, Channel 1, and Tolo News.
RAPL Commissioner Shafic Gawhari gave a speech on the importance of sports and exercise as a part of everyday life for Afghan men and women, and showed a video clip highlighting the incredible moments from the 2014 RAPL season. Other speakers in attendance were: Dr. Fayaq, of AFF; Mr. Wali, head of the AFF Khost Chapter; and political analyst Professor Masood.
Two of Afghanistan's Olympic medalists, Rohullah Nekpa and Nisar Ahmed Bahawi were also on hand.
The Afghan Football Federation and the Roshan Afghan Premier League were given awards for promoting sports excellence.
