2014 Season Review: De Spinghar Bazan

7 Dec, 2014

De Spinghar Bazan made headlines early in 2014 when they signed their captain and RAPL superstar Rafi Barakzai away from Toofan Harirod, showing their fans that they were serious about winning. RAPL fans didn't have to wait long to see the drama unfold between these two teams as they faced each other on September 3rd and played to a 1-1 draw. After the game, Barakzai was embraced by his former teammates from Herat in a display of sportsmanship and class.

De Spinghar Bazan went on to win their next two matches against last year's runners up, Simorgh Alborz and this year's fair play award winners De Maiwand Atalan. Both matches were close, as they won each by a one goal margin. They finished the regular season with two wins and two draws after tying their last match against their semifinal opponent and eventual RAPL champions Shaheen Asmayee.

After losing in the semifinals to Shaheen Asmayee, De Spinghar Bazan defeated De Maiwand Atalan in an exciting penalty shootout 9-7 to claim third place in the 2014 Roshan Afghan Premier League season.

With a successful season behind them and the core of their team coming back in 2015, De Spinghar Bazan will be in the championship conversation for years to come
